FireFox 2

Get FirefoxWAHOO! It’s been released :) Our lovable browser has had its second major version released into the wild, which is great news. I’ve been using the latest released candidate for a while, and have had no issues at all, but now it’s officially out there for all to enjoy.

Point your currently insecure/outdated browsers over here and start your download.

So why is my Firefox 1.5.0.7 still telling me there are no updates available?

Manually downloaded it. Whoohoo, the close tab button is now on the tab itself where it makes sense (like Opera’s ace tabs), rather that over on the right of the main window.

Yeah, I’m not sure yet why the ‘current’ version doesn’t realise that it’s time to update, perhaps it’s because the official GetFireFox.com site still doesn’t have the new version listed (at the time of writing ;)). I reckon they’ll have this sorted out soon though.

Yup, that is one thing that I like about v2, the UI feels a little smoother too. Now we just have to wait for those funky plugins to be updated.

So has anyone else OTHER than me installed IE 7? (ahem, not that I use it or anything, just to have a look at of course)

Yes I have. I don’t like it to be honest. It feels like it’s trying to be FireFox, but it just doesn’t cut it.

I’m gonna install IE7 when I get the chance, mainly to see how it’s gonna handle standards compliant code. If it does well, then bye bye IE6 hacks from anything I do (well eventually, once it gets market share).

I think you’ll find they’ve improved stuff, but they’re still far from standards compliant :( The important thing is that it’s still an improvement over IE6.
