Which one are you? I’ve had my own thoughts on the differences between what makes a person a developer and what makes a person a programmer for some time, but I think this article at Hacknot bears a striking resemblance - which means I don’t have to write it out myself
A great read, and it’s something that not only hilights the differences between a lot of people you’ll find out there working in the industry, but it’ll give an idea of what I believe should be expected of you while you’re trying to do your job.

I’d say I’m mostly on the developer side until people start distracting me *all fucking day long* and then I just want to write code and be left alone to it - or just jack it in and go to the pub!

I am a developer.. of visual things
Perhaps OJ you need to do another survey, are you a programmer or a scripter, and then to complete the circle… are you a scripter or a designer, and then are you a designer or a developer.

Damm… according to every thing in the article I am a developer. The thing is I’ve considered myself a programmer for the last 30 years, with a strong scepticism of newfangled but no-added-value technology AND terminology, which is what I had thought of the term “software developer”. We used to call those beneath (!) us “coders”.
